Visiting Nablus for the first time in a while,
one can never be unbiased or have zero
expectations, especially if he had heard the
different narratives from his ancestors, or read
the different literature which try to portray
the glorious history of Nablus. As a result,
looking at such a historically layered city is
always a process of going back and forth between
the images you actually see, and the images
resonating in your imagination and memory, and
trying to fit each of these, usually opposing,
images to each other. So we can say that: The
