Dr. Arch.  Shadi Ghadban is an associate professor at the Department of Architectural Engineering/ Faculty of Engineering at Birzeit University, Palestinian Territories. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Architecture, Higher Institute of Architecture & Civil Engineering, Sofia/ Bulgaria in 1979. He acted as the Dean of Engineering for the period 1983-1987 and as the Chairman of the Department of Architectural Engineering between 1989- 1997 and 2005-2010.

Dr. Ghadban academic and research activities are oriented towards the problems of housing and local traditional architecture. He published his works in well-known international referred journals, international and regional conferences and seminars.

He has wide experience as an academic consultant, manger of several international cooperation projects between the Department and other local and international academic and professional institutions. He worked also as a project manager for a number of architectural and rehabilitation projects in several major Palestinian cities, including Bethlehem and Hebron.
