Yasid Elrifai
Is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering at Birzeit University.
His teaching areas include architectural design, and theories of architecture and urbanism. His fields of research include the notion of architecture and the city, modern architecture and the city, urban design theories, environmental psychology, and architecture as a tool of community development. Yasid works as city planner, urban designer and architect. He leads multidisciplinary teams in different projects including master planning, downtowns development, buildings and parks design in Palestine and the Arab World.
Yasid holds a doctoral degree in Architecture from the Technical University of Graz (TUGraz), Austria. He has been involved in a number of national and international conferences and workshops. Current research: Urbanization between Ideology and Neoliberalism, Ramallah: Between the Modernism and the Project of State City, and Images of the Mind vs. Syntax of Reality.
